Tamiya Vintage Rough Rider MK1 Restored, Nice! Acoms RTR Box Art
This Vintage Tamiya Buggy has been stripped down, cleaned, fixed, sprayed up & put back together again into what you see here. Everything works & Its RTR, just needs batteries to start driving around! Although It has really been put together to go on a shelf! There are a couple of things to point out about this model, firstly the original mk1 wheels are a bit kurbed! And the tyres aren’t great, they look ok but there is some cracking starting/happening. So there is a choice of wheels/tyres with this, you can either have the original mk1 wheels/tyres or a brand new set of re-release wheels tyres as pictured. Both old and new sets have had the wheels sprayed alloy colour. As the model has been done to go on a shelf the shocks are dry so there are no oil drips and the moving parts have just had a little smear of silicone grease. There is a bit of gravel rash on the gearbox casing underside to reflect its previous life as a working model. The radio gear is period acoms, ARB 227 reciever, AS1 servos and a mk 2 handset all work fine, along with the original mechanical speed controller. These are fine for display & occaisional running but if you are serious about running it I would put an ESC in there, they are a lot less hassle! The MSC relies on correct packing of the wires every time you put a fresh battery in ther which can be a bit frustrating! The radio box is a new re-re item so does not have any broken tabs, but has been smoked to age it a bit. The body has had a repair to the roll bar support and rear corner but these have been filled and sanded so as not to notice! The body has been finished with MCI racing decals. So grab yourself a Nice piece of Tamiya History, great addition to any collection these and the mk1’s are a great investment as all the parts prices are continually going up and up!!!
