Tamiya Vintage Ford Ranger XLT Short wheel Arch! Restored, Nice! RTR Box Art
This Vintage Tamiya Truck has been stripped down, cleaned, fixed, sprayed up & put back together again into what you see here. Everything works & Its RTR, just needs batteries to start driving around! Although It has really been put together to go on a shelf! There are a few things to point out about this model. Although it looks really nice and will sit on a shelf well it is not perfect! The body is a genuine short wheel arch so pretty collectable, but as it came to me it was missing its rear body mount tabs, so new ones have been re-made in ally and glued on/ filled sanded etc, its a nice job but obviously doesn’t make it a minter!!!! The inside of the body although it has been spray it does look a little lumpy in places in the cab roof. Also this body has had a fender repair but again its a nice clean job and has all been smoothed over so you don’t notice. One other point that is worth mentioning is the fact that the rear leading edges of the front wheel arches have been’relieved’ a little or maybee worn off/away? !! not by me i’d like to say! And there were a couple of holes that got filled in the rear bed they are covered over by the rear sticker on the outside but may still be seen as ghost marks on the inside. And of course the glass is re-re and I think the tailgate is a sprayed up Blackfoot one. The front grille is a re-release with an inserted period correct radiator grille. Also the Chassis body mounts are quality reproduction items. The wheels are sprayed up re-re ones, I can change them to white if you want the classic look, just let me know but you’ll have to give me a few days to get them stripped and sprayed up! The tyres are new 915 re-re. Most of the photos in the listing are of the body. If you want more photos of the chassis I have another Rough Rider for sale which the chassis is been restored to similar standard, or let me know and I will message more pics to you. Its a mk2 chassis and the underside actually looks pretty good on this one no big scrapes on the bottom of the gearbox! As the model has been done to go on a shelf the shocks are dry so there are no oil drips and the moving parts have just had a little smear of silicone grease. There is a bit of gravel rash on the gearbox casing underside to reflect its previous life as a working model. The radio gear is Acoms, ARC 227 reciever, AS7 servos and a mk 2 handset all work fine, along with the original mechanical speed controller. These are fine for display & occaisional running but if you are serious about running it I would put an ESC in there, they are a lot less hassle! The MSC relies on correct packing of the wires every time you put a fresh battery in there which can be a bit frustrating! The radio box is a new re-re item so does not have any broken tabs, but has been smoked to age it a bit. Transmitter has one battery terminal which looks as if a bit has broken off but it still works fine and connects to the battery ok. If you object to this and really want a good one I’ll see what I can find! /solder on a fresh tab just let me know! I can post overseas but please ask for a quote if you want to by-pass the GSP!
